Bonjour, comment allez-vous? =)
(Hi, how are you?)
So...What a crazy week, LOL!!! Actually it was crazy for me at first, but now I'm kinda like enjoying it. Just let me spill the beans. I'm in the middle of a hospitality training course and it will help me getting jobs in places like coffee shop, bistros, bars, clubs, restaurants (including 5 star restaurants). Hopefully I will be able to get a job in a 5 star restaurant like Hilton, Sofitel, etc. There are 9 people learning with me and well, I'm the only Asian girl. I love being special, haha, nah I just love hanging around with fun people. I made good friends with some of them (not all, as I found 2 or 3 are sooooo arrogant and hard to be with.. But who cares, I know I don't =]). Will try to take pics before the course is over and show you my good frens =).
Monday, the first day of the course, I learnt how to set up a table. Actually it's pretty easy for me to remember that because *clear throat* (don't wanna sound like I'm showing off but..) I've been to many high class restaurants with my mom and I see how a table is set lotsa times. So yeah, no big deal =D !!! The hardest part so far is the plates carrying. GOSH!!!! I have to carry a H.U.G.E plate (when I eat I feel the plate ain't big enough but when it comes to carrying, it's like the plate is as big as my butt O_O") and a H.U.G.E bowl on my very same arm, the other hand I have to carry another effing H.U.G.E plate. It sores, so badly!!! Besides, my hands are super duper small compared to the plates, so carrying them brings a big problem to me. Hopefully I will master it soon, haizzz... I'm pretty good at carrying cups, 3 cups at once. I am also good at pouring wine. Fuiyoh, you must see me ok. I look damn professional, nyehehehe.
I personally think I need to practise my speaking skill more. I'm not so good at greeting the guests (I'd rather be greeted and seated and lap napkined and ... Pffft... Ok, focus!!!). And I often stick my tounge out when I feel unsure about something. Bad habbit =="
It feels pretty weird when you are always called ma'am or sir by the staffs in the restaurants you go to and then one day it happens that you have to call someone else ma'am and sir. I mean I never call anyone ma'am, I'm not rude but that's the fact. "Sir" is somehow easy for me as I call most of my male teachers "Sir". But ma'am .... *stick my tounge out*
I tell you, being a 5 star restaurant server (that's what I wanna do) is not an easy shit. A professional server (waiter/waitress) has to be fit and strong (very important), fast, good at memorising stuffs, good at reading people's body languages, good at sweet talking to make people like you (which will bring tips to you), obedient (duh =="), etc. etc. and etc. Sometimes I feel kinda sad because of what I have to do. I mean I have to take care of people, pamper them, be nice to them but not too close because they are high class people and I am... well, who in those places care which class I am *sigh*. For the sake of good salary babe, for the sake of $$$. Oh haven't I told you how much I can get per hour? I've been told that a normal waiter in a 5 star restaurant can get up to 35 bucks per hour, excluding tips. The teacher in my class told me that rich people really tip well if they are pleased. A normal meal usually cost them 300 bucks and above (that's like RM 700) and they tip 50-100 bucks to the server. That is like ... *gasp* + *speechless*!!!!
I am not expecting too high or anything. I mean the salary itself is really good enough for me. I can work 20 hours a week and if I can get, say, 30 bucks an hour, I will make 600 bucks per week (before paying tax). Most of my friends get jobs at places like McDonald, Hungry Jack, normal food store and they are paid 9 bucks per hour *cry*. Can you see why I wanna work in Hilton restaurant now????
Ok, enough about my training course and my (temporary) dream job. Yesterday, Tuesday, I went for a social meeting (and dinner) with Aussie bloggers. I met great people and had fun chats with some of them. I met this girl, Rachel (click to visit her blog), who is very cute and she migrated from Singapore.
Let me show you our pic =)
Why do I always feel like my right boob is BIGGER than my left boob ==". Do you feel the same thing???? Or it's just because of my shirt??? >"<
The pic above was taken using Rachel's camera, she blanked her eyes when she uploaded it onto her blog. Damn!!! You think you miss a chance to see her pretty face??? Well don't be sad, cuz fortunately I took another pic with my phone. Sorry it's a little dark, didn't remember to change the settings, so many settings and things get pretty confusing. Sorry I'm not a tech geek, neither a pro photographer. T___T. But at least you can see her face hey? So say thank you to me now, hehe, just kidding.
While Rachel looks pretty in this pic, I look like $#!T, haizzzz
I was the earliest blogger there, so this was how the place looked like.
The bar, drinks were totally free ^^
There were wines but no thank you. I played with them enough in my training class. Orange juice please =)
That's right, go for it xD
Super ugly me T___T
Sorry I forgot the guy on my right's name. The one on my left (with shades on his head) is Phil.
Thanks Rachel for helping me taking this pic ^^
I left quite early because I was damn exhausted, so I didn't have many food pics.
